Upcoming segment will examine how community partnerships, mobile outreach and healthcare workforce development help a Pennsylvania hospital respond to rural needs.
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 4, 2026 — "All Access with Andy Garcia" is scheduled to film at Punxsutawney Area Hospital on November 24, 2026, for an upcoming educational segment exploring how a rural community hospital works to keep care accessible close to home. The series will introduce viewers to the people and programs connecting clinical services with the needs of residents in Punxsutawney and surrounding western Pennsylvania communities.
Distance, transportation and access to specialty services can complicate healthcare for rural families. The segment will examine how Punxsutawney Area Hospital uses its Community Health Needs Assessment, local relationships and regional partnerships to identify gaps and respond. Mobile outreach, community screenings and health education extend that work beyond the hospital walls, including prenatal and women's-health outreach to Amish families.
The series will explore how investments in facilities, technology and outpatient services support local care, while coordinated referrals connect patients with additional services when needed. Behind these efforts are physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers and support staff whose experience and community connections help patients navigate their care.
Preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals is another part of the hospital's approach. Through high school healthcare programs, medical student education and resident physician training, Punxsutawney Area Hospital introduces students and future clinicians to rural practice. The segment will examine how these experiences help develop local talent and support the recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals.
"At Punxsutawney Area Hospital, we believe that where you live should not determine your ability to access quality healthcare. As a rural community hospital, our responsibility extends far beyond the walls of our facility. It means understanding the unique needs of our community, building meaningful partnerships, bringing healthcare services to those who face barriers to access, and investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals. We are proud of our history of serving this region, but equally excited about the future we are building. Through innovation, collaboration, and a continued commitment to our patients, we are working to ensure that high-quality, compassionate care remains available close to home for generations to come," said Clark Simpson, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer of Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
